Let’s be honest: cleaning with a toddler and a baby at home is less about keeping the house perfect and more about keeping it functional. 😂
Some days I get loads done. Other days, I’m proud if everyone is fed, the laundry is vaguely under control, and the floor is visible. 😅
Here’s what a typical cleaning day looks like for me. 🏡✨
🌅 Morning Reset
Once we’re up and breakfast is done, I try to do a quick kitchen reset.
☕ Clear the breakfast dishes
🧽 Wipe down the table and counters
🧹 Quick sweep around the kitchen
🛏️ Make the beds (or at least pull the blankets up 😂)
🧺 Start one load of laundry
I don’t aim for spotless. I just like starting the day with the main areas feeling a little less chaotic.
🧸 Mid-Morning: Toddler + Baby Life
This is usually when the house gets messy again… almost immediately. 😂
While the baby is playing or napping and my toddler is occupied, I’ll tackle one small job:
🧹 Vacuum the main living areas
🧼 Wipe fingerprints off doors/cabinets
🧸 Pick up toys
🚽 Quick bathroom clean
🌱 Water plants if needed
The key for me is one thing at a time. I don’t try to deep-clean the entire house while supervising two tiny humans. That would be a recipe for frustration. 😅
🧺 Laundry… The Never-Ending Story
Laundry gets its own category because, with little ones, it basically deserves one. 😂
My goal is usually one load a day:
➡️ Wash
➡️ Dry
➡️ Fold
➡️ Put away
And if I only manage the first two steps? That’s okay too. 🙃
Sometimes the clean laundry lives in a basket for a day or two. We survive.
🍽️ After Lunch
Lunch somehow creates an entire second round of dishes. 😅
So I do another quick reset:
🍽️ Load/unload the dishwasher
🧽 Wipe the high chair
🧹 Sweep under the table
🧼 Wipe kitchen surfaces
🧸 Quick toy pickup
I also try to involve my toddler in the cleanup. It may take twice as long, but we’re learning that cleaning up is just part of life. 🥰
😴 During Nap Time
If both kids happen to sleep at the same time… 🙏😂
I have a choice:
Clean OR sit down.
And honestly? Sometimes I choose the sofa. ☕🛋️
If I have the energy, I might do a slightly bigger task like:
✨ Clean the bathroom
✨ Mop the floors
✨ Change bed sheets
✨ Dust
✨ Organize one small area
But I don’t believe every nap has to become a cleaning marathon.
🌙 Evening Reset
After dinner, I like doing a final little reset so I don’t wake up to yesterday’s chaos.
🍽️ Kitchen cleaned
🧽 Counters wiped
🧹 Kitchen floor swept
🧸 Toys back in their baskets
🧺 Laundry put away (if I’m feeling ambitious 😂)
🛋️ Living room tidied
Then I’m DONE. 🙌
No scrubbing baseboards at 10 p.m. over here.
🧼 What I Clean Every Day vs. Weekly
Daily:
🧽 Kitchen surfaces
🍽️ Dishes
🧹 High-traffic floors
🚽 Quick bathroom touch-up when needed
🧸 Toy pickup
🧺 One laundry load
A few times a week:
🧼 Bathrooms
🧹 Thorough vacuuming
🧽 Mopping
🛏️ Changing sheets
When I get around to it:
✨ Deep cleaning
✨ Decluttering
✨ Organizing cupboards
✨ Those mysterious corners that somehow collect everything 😂
🤍 The Biggest Lesson I’ve Learned
Having a clean home with a toddler and baby doesn’t mean having a spotless home.
There will be toys everywhere. There will be crumbs on the floor. There will be laundry waiting to be folded. There will probably be a random sock in the kitchen. 🧦😂
And that’s okay.
My goal isn’t perfect.
It’s simply to create a home that feels comfortable, clean enough, and peaceful enough for our little family. 🏡🤍
Some days the house looks amazing.
Some days it looks like two tiny tornadoes came through.
Both are normal. 🌪️👶🧸
And tomorrow, we’ll just reset and start again. ✨
