Itβs that time of year againβ¦ back-to-school season! ππβοΈ
I honestly canβt believe how quickly the summer has gone. It feels like we were only just getting into the slower summer routine, enjoying later mornings, relaxed days, and making the most of the sunshine βοΈπ¦πΈ β and now suddenly weβre talking about school bags, uniforms, stationery, lunch boxes and getting everything ready for another school year! π
Thereβs something about back-to-school shopping that feels a little chaotic, but also really exciting. π₯°β¨ Itβs a fresh start, a new chapter and a chance to get everything organised before those busy school mornings begin again.
ποΈ The Back-to-School Errand List
Of course, getting ready for school is never as simple as just buying a couple of notebooks and a new backpack! π
There always seems to be a never-ending list of things to remember. πβοΈ
New school clothes π
New shoes π
School bags π
Notebooks π
Pens and pencils ποΈβοΈ
Folders and pencil cases ποΈ
Lunch boxes ππ₯ͺ
Water bottles π§
Sports clothes β½
And, of course, all those little extras that somehow end up costing more than expected! πΈπ
So, the first job is making a list and trying to stick to it. Whether I actually manage to stick to the list is another storyβ¦ π π
π New Shoes, New Year
One of the biggest back-to-school jobs has to be finding new shoes. π
Somehow, the shoes that fitted perfectly a few months ago suddenly look tiny! π Growing children definitely know how to keep you on your toes.
Thereβs something so lovely about seeing a brand-new pair of school shoes lined up and ready for the first day. They always look so clean and shinyβ¦ at least for the first five minutes! ππ
And then thereβs the challenge of finding shoes that are comfortable, practical, suitable for school and actually liked by the person who has to wear them. That combination can feel like a mission! π
π Stationery Shopping
I have to admit, stationery shopping is one of my favourite parts. βοΈποΈπ
Thereβs just something about fresh notebooks, new pens, pencils and everything being clean and unused that makes me want to become the most organised person in the world. πβ¨
Fresh pages.
New supplies.
Everything neatly packed away.
A completely organised school bag. πβ¨
For a moment, I convince myself that this is going to be the year when everything stays perfectly organisedβ¦
Letβs see how long that lasts! π
π₯ͺ Getting Ready for School Lunches
Then comes another big part of the back-to-school routine β lunches! ππ₯ͺπ
Itβs time to make sure lunch boxes are ready, water bottles are clean and there are plenty of easy snacks available for those busy school days. π₯°
I always like having a few things prepared ahead of time because once the school routine starts, the mornings can become a complete whirlwind. β°π
Thereβs nothing worse than waking up late, trying to get everyone dressed, finding a missing shoe, making breakfast, packing lunches and somehow remembering everything else that needs to leave the houseβ¦ all before the clock says itβs time to go! π
So a little preparation now can make those mornings just that little bit easier. πβ¨
π§Ί Getting Everything Organised
Back-to-school preparation isnβt just about shopping either. Thereβs also the organising at home. π‘β¨
Bags need to be sorted, clothes need to be checked, school paperwork needs to be looked through, and everything needs its place.
I love having that feeling when everything is finally ready. ππβ¨
The school bags are packed, clothes are organised, shoes are ready, supplies are in place and you can finally breathe and think, βOkayβ¦ I think weβre ready!β π
Of course, there will probably still be something forgotten at some point. π But thatβs just part of life!
β° Getting Back Into a Routine
After a summer of relaxed days and a slightly later schedule, getting back into a proper routine can definitely take some adjusting. π΄β°
Early mornings are coming back!
Alarm clocks. β°
Breakfast. π₯£
Getting dressed. π
Brushing teeth. πͺ₯
Finding shoes. π
Packing bags. π
Making sure everyone has everything they need. π
Itβs definitely an adjustment after the freedom of summer, but thereβs also something comforting about getting back into a routine.
I think routines can make life feel a little more settled, especially when everything starts getting busy again. β€οΈ
π A Little Bit Emotional
As exciting as a new school year can be, thereβs also always a little bit of emotion that comes with it.
Every year they grow a little more. π₯Ήπ
It feels like you blink and suddenly theyβre another year older, moving up to the next class, becoming more independent and needing you in slightly different ways.
Back-to-school shopping can sometimes make you realise just how quickly time is passing. One minute youβre buying their very first school supplies, and the next youβre wondering how they got so big! π₯Ήπ
So while Iβm running around trying to get everything organised, Iβm also trying to slow down and appreciate these little moments.
β One More Coffee Before the Chaos!
After all the errands, shopping and organising, I think we deserve a little break! πβ
Thereβs something satisfying about coming home after a productive day, putting everything away and knowing that another job has been ticked off the list. β β¨
Now all thatβs left is to enjoy the last little bit of summer, get some rest and prepare ourselves for the busy mornings ahead! βοΈπ
Because before we know it, the alarm will be going off, school bags will be by the door and weβll be saying:
βCome on, weβre going to be late!β πβ°π
Hereβs to a new school year filled with new experiences, new friendships, new things to learn and lots of happy memories. πβ¨π
Back-to-school prepβ¦ officially underway! πποΈβοΈπβ¨
