Summer with kids is equal parts magical memories and organized chaos! π While every day looks a little different, having a flexible routine helps keep our days fun, productive, and (mostly) stress-free. Here’s a peek into my typical summer schedule as a mom.
π 6:00 AM β Mom Time
Before the house wakes up, I enjoy a little quiet time with my coffee. β Whether I’m reading, praying, journaling, or simply sitting in silence, these peaceful moments help me start the day feeling refreshed.
π³ 7:00 AM β Breakfast & Morning Prep
Once everyone is awake, it’s time for breakfast! Pancakes, fruit, eggs, or cereal usually make an appearance. After breakfast, we get dressed, brush teeth, and make our plan for the day.
π§Ί 8:00 AM β Quick Household Reset
Before the fun begins, we spend about 20-30 minutes tidying up. Making beds, unloading the dishwasher, and picking up toys helps keep the house from becoming overwhelming later.
π³ 9:00 AM β Outdoor Adventures
Summer is for sunshine! βοΈ We head outside for walks, bike rides, playground visits, splash pads, or backyard play. Getting fresh air early in the day helps everyone burn energy and stay active.
π 11:30 AM β Lunch Time
After a busy morning, we refuel with lunch. I try to keep meals simple during summerβsandwiches, wraps, fruit, veggies, and whatever keeps everyone happy and fed.
π΄ 12:30 PM β Quiet Time
Even if naps are a thing of the past, quiet time is a lifesaver. π Kids can read, color, play quietly, or watch a short show while I catch up on work, chores, or simply recharge.
π¨ 2:00 PM β Summer Fun Activities
This is our creative time! We might do crafts, bake cookies, visit the library, work on summer learning activities, or meet up with friends.
π 4:00 PM β Free Play
The kids usually entertain themselves while I start dinner prep. Sometimes this means backyard games, LEGOs, drawing, or neighborhood adventures.
π½οΈ 6:00 PM β Family Dinner
One of my favorite parts of the day. We gather around the table, share stories, and reconnect after a busy day.
πΏ 7:00 PM β Evening Routine
Baths, pajamas, bedtime stories, and lots of hugs. β€οΈ We start winding down and preparing for tomorrow.
π 8:30 PM β Mom’s Wind Down Time
After the kids are asleep, I finally get a little time for myself. Whether it’s reading a book, watching a favorite show, or enjoying a snack in peace, these moments help me recharge.
π Final Thoughts
I’ve learned that summer schedules don’t have to be perfect. Some days are messy, some plans change, and some afternoons turn into movie marathons. And that’s okay!
The goal isn’t perfectionβit’s making memories, enjoying the little moments, and embracing the beautiful chaos of motherhood. βοΈβ€οΈ
