{"id":1844,"date":"2026-09-01T01:11:20","date_gmt":"2026-09-01T05:11:20","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/basicmom.blog\/?p=1844"},"modified":"2026-09-26T07:29:17","modified_gmt":"2026-09-26T11:29:17","slug":"my-realistic-school-morning-routine-as-a-mom","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/basicmom.blog\/index.php\/2026\/09\/01\/my-realistic-school-morning-routine-as-a-mom\/","title":{"rendered":"\ud83c\udf05 My Realistic School Morning Routine as a Mom \ud83c\udf92\u2615\ufe0f"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p class=\"p3\">School mornings\u2026 you either love them or survive them. \ud83d\ude02\ud83d\ude48<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"p3\">If you\u2019re picturing a peaceful morning with everyone dressed, breakfast finished, hair perfectly brushed, and bags waiting by the door \u2014 I\u2019m here to tell you: <strong>that is NOT my house.<\/strong> \ud83d\ude02<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"p3\">Here\u2019s what a <em>realistic<\/em> school morning looks like for me as a mom. \u2764\ufe0f<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><strong>\u23f0 6:00 AM \u2014 My alarm goes off<\/strong><\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"p3\">I wake up and immediately think, <em>\u201cJust five more minutes\u2026\u201d<\/em> \ud83d\ude34\ud83d\ude02<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"p3\">Of course, those five minutes somehow turn into ten, but eventually I get up, open the curtains, make the bed (most days \ud83d\ude09), and head straight for the coffee machine. \u2615\ufe0f<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"p3\">Because honestly\u2026 <strong>coffee first, everything else second.<\/strong> \ud83d\ude02<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><strong>\ud83e\udd6a 6:30 AM \u2014 Lunchbox &amp; breakfast duty<\/strong><\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"p3\">Next comes the lunchbox marathon. \ud83e\udd6a\ud83c\udf4e\ud83e\uddc3<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"p3\">I\u2019m packing snacks, making sandwiches, filling water bottles, and trying to remember who likes what today. \ud83d\ude05<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"p3\">Breakfast is usually something quick \u2014 cereal, toast, fruit, or whatever I can get onto a plate before someone announces:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"p4\"><strong>\u201cMum, I\u2019m not hungry!\u201d<\/strong> \ud83e\udd26\u200d\u2640\ufe0f\ud83d\ude02<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><strong>\ud83d\udc55 7:00 AM \u2014 Wake the kids<\/strong><\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"p3\">And now the real fun begins. \ud83d\ude02<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"p3\">\u201cGood morning, sweetheart!\u201d \u2764\ufe0f<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"p3\">\u201cWake up!\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"p3\">\u201cCome on, we\u2019re going to be late!\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"p3\">\u201cPLEASE PUT YOUR SOCKS ON!\u201d \ud83e\udde6\ud83e\udd23<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"p3\">Some mornings they jump out of bed ready to go.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"p3\">Other mornings, getting dressed feels like negotiating an international peace treaty. \ud83d\ude02<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><strong>\ud83e\udea5 7:20 AM \u2014 The bathroom battle<\/strong><\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"p3\">Teeth brushed? \ud83e\udea5<br \/>Hair brushed? \ud83d\udc87\u200d\u2640\ufe0f<br \/>Face washed?<br \/>Shoes on?<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"p3\">At least one of these questions gets answered with:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"p4\"><strong>\u201cI forgot!\u201d<\/strong> \ud83d\ude02<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"p3\">And somehow we\u2019re looking for a missing shoe five minutes before we need to leave. \ud83d\udc5f\ud83d\ude43<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><strong>\ud83c\udf92 7:40 AM \u2014 The final checklist<\/strong><\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"p3\">Backpacks? \ud83c\udf92\u2705<br \/>Lunchboxes? \ud83e\udd6a\u2705<br \/>Water bottles? \ud83d\udca7\u2705<br \/>Homework? \ud83d\udcda<br \/>Jacket? \ud83e\udde5<br \/>Shoes? \ud83d\udc5f<br \/>Everyone actually in the car? \ud83d\ude97\ud83d\ude02<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"p3\">I do one final sweep of the house because there is <em>always<\/em> something left behind.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><strong>\ud83d\ude97 8:00 AM \u2014 Out the door!<\/strong><\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"p3\">We finally make it out.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"p3\">Sometimes we leave early.<br \/>Sometimes we leave <em>exactly on time<\/em>.<br \/>And sometimes\u2026 we\u2019re running down the street like we\u2019re competing in the Olympics. \ud83d\ude02\ud83c\udfc3\u200d\u2640\ufe0f\ud83d\udca8<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"p3\">But eventually, we arrive at school, usually with a quick hug, a kiss, and a:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"p4\"><strong>\u201cHave a great day! I love you!\u201d \u2764\ufe0f<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"p3\">And just like that\u2026 the morning chaos is over.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><strong>\u2615\ufe0f My little moment of peace<\/strong><\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"p3\">Once the kids are at school, I finally take a deep breath. \ud83d\ude0c<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"p3\">I grab another coffee, tidy up the kitchen, and enjoy a few quiet moments before the next part of the day begins.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"p3\">Is my morning routine perfect?<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"p3\">Absolutely not. \ud83d\ude02<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"p3\">Is it organized every single day?<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"p3\">Definitely not. \ud83d\ude48<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"p3\">But it\u2019s ours.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"p3\">There are messy breakfasts, missing socks, forgotten homework, sleepy faces, lots of rushing\u2026 and somehow, lots of love in between. \u2764\ufe0f<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"p3\">Because motherhood isn\u2019t about having perfect mornings.
